About Casey’s Center

Casey’s Center (formerly Wells Fargo Arena), located in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, is a premier multi-purpose arena that opened on July 12, 2005. Formerly known as Wells Fargo Arena until its renaming on July 1, 2025, following a 10-year naming rights agreement with Casey’s, the venue serves as a key hub for sporting events, concerts, family shows, and community gatherings within the Iowa Events Center complex. The arena accommodates approximately 17,000 seats for center-stage concerts, around 16,110 for basketball configurations, and 15,181 for hockey and indoor football setups. It is the home venue for three professional teams: the Iowa Wolves (NBA G League), the Iowa Wild (American Hockey League), and the Iowa Barnstormers (Indoor Football League). The facility also hosts annual Iowa High School State Wrestling and Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Tournaments, along with major touring acts, NCAA events, and family entertainment such as the Harlem Globetrotters and Disney On Ice.

Casey’s Center is situated at 233 Center Street (also listed as 730 Third Street in some references) in Des Moines, Iowa, and forms an integral part of the Iowa Events Center, which encompasses the Community Choice Convention Center and EMC Expo Center. The arena is owned by Polk County and managed by OVG360, a division of Oak View Group. Its central downtown location provides connectivity via the city’s Skywalk system, enabling protected pedestrian access from nearby parking structures, hotels, and dining establishments.

Constructed at a cost of $117 million and opening in 2005, the arena replaced older facilities and has established itself as Iowa’s largest indoor venue for major entertainment and sports. It features adaptable flooring for ice, hardwood, concert stages (end or center configurations), and other setups. Key amenities include modern concessions operated by OVG Hospitality, accessible services such as assisted listening devices and companion seating, and dedicated spaces like The Fort whiskey bar (open to all ticket holders on the suite level).

The venue has a strong history of hosting significant events, including NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournament sessions, the NCAA Wrestling Championships, UFC events, and performances by prominent artists. It continues to serve as a regional anchor for entertainment in the Midwest.
